“That child did nothing wrong. […] To be victimized twice would be a horrible thing.” - Rick Santorum, responding to his stance on abortion. He believes abortions should be criminalized, even in the case of rape or incest.
This is honest to god the most fucking absurd argument against abortion I have ever heard.
Let me tell you what would be a second horrible thing after being raped: Any legislation telling me I’d go to jail if I did not want to have that child.
“I think this nation can do a better job when it comes to equality.” - Jon Huntsman, on his support for civil unions, who reiterated that he believes in traditional marriage.
“Who brought this guy?” - everyone else on the stage
The argument over Iran between Paul and Santorum was probably the most interesting part of this debate so far.
Newt Gingrich is kinda pissed that Fox News ended his contract.
Rick Santorum is that kid in class who raises his hand for so long that he starts to prop it up with his other hand.
Huntsman is being ignored way more than Santorum. Which is about the least surprising part of this debate.
Needs more secessionists.
Tim Pawlenty challenged viewers to find an economic plan from President Obama on the web. If you find one, he promises to come to your house and cook you dinner.
When Pawlenty was asked about criticizing Michele Bachmann for her migraines, he said the only headache to question is the headache the President has caused.
Someone is better prepped since the New Hampshire debate.
But who would want Pawlenty to come over to their house???
When asked how they would bring about an economic recovery, Rep. Michele Bachmann listed a two-point plan: 1) don’t increase the debt ceiling, and 2) make Obama a one-term president.
Mitt Romney listed a seven-step plan, from making corporate tax rates “competitive” to bringing up energy policy.
Herman Cain’s economic recovery plan includes making tax cuts permanent and eliminating the capital gains tax.
Jon Huntsman held onto his experience as the governor of Utah, listing a “competitive, business-friendly environment” as one of his accomplishments.
